THE BLACK PATHS
Craigavon was designed and build back inthe 1960s and 70s and one of it's most defining features was the separation of "man and motor".
Craigavon has no footpaths, traffic lights or pedestrian crossings. That's because there's an entirely separate transport system going under and over the road network. Measuring 40km it is the only purpose built active travel network on the island of Ireland – unmapped until now!
“I’ve watched Cycul create connections between people from all levels of society to meet up, exchange ideas, share experiences, and make a difference…”
…fun, inclusive, all community
“For all that is great in cycling... Cycul celebrate it local style. They have introduced fun, inclusive, all community, two-wheeled involvement. Chapeau!!!”
…stand out events
“Truly stand out events… excellent event organisation but also encouraging entry-level cyclists to get into cycling.”
…people who clearly know and love cycling
“CYCUL events work so well – it’s clear that they’re put together by people who clearly know and love cycling. We highly recommend!”
Belfast Bicycle Network - delivery update
The Belfast Bicycle Network Delivery Plan released on March 31 in 2022. Since then there's been no obvious progress on the ground. We asked the Department for Infrastructure for an update on spend, construction and stage of each of th 53 individual routes.
